We had a Musician called Sefo from Arts La’Olam attend our setting providing Traditional dance workshops, story telling and musical workshops linked to children’s culture, supporting children’s emotional understanding and ability to express themselves through dance and music. To improve emotional literacy for our preschool children.
Our key outcome from the project was to improve emotional literacy for children. We used the Resilience tracker to set a base line for the children and will carry out the tracker again once the project is complete.
Sefo attended our setting 6 times over a 2 week period carrying out sessions with the children to promote emotional literacy and exploring West African musical instruments. The children engaged well during the sessions and enjoyed listening, dancing and playing instruments with Sefo. This was a new experience for the children in our setting and we have also purchased multi cultural musical instruments to continue the project after.
